A New Face for Fresh Efforts at SCOPE

Matthew Roach, GIS Mapper Extraordinaire These are exciting times at SCOPE, as we expand our in-house GIS mapping capabilities and prepare a 2011 Update of the Sarasota County Community Report Card - that comprehensive review of local community indicators that we've published six times over the past decade.

SCOPE has recently hired Matthew Roach to make a significant contribution in advancing these efforts.  Matt is an epidemiologist with a Master's degree in Public Health from the University of South Florida.  He is talented in GIS mapping, and also has experience in community research and grantwriting.  Matt will be working primarily with SCOPE's Community Data team as we prepare to convene the community in Spring 2011 for the formation of a county-wide data collaborative.  He is also contributing to the SCOPE Neighborhoods Initiative and to Aging with Dignity and Independence.

Not to mention, he's one of those people with a keen intellect, a natural curiosity, and a regular tendency to go the extra mile, and he still comes across as an easy-going guy with a good sense of humor.

Before long, you'll likely spot him out and about in the community with a souped up, GIS-loaded laptop in hand.  In the meantime, when you drop by the SCOPE office, please stop in to meet him!
